The provider orders some tests through conventional labs such as Quest or LabCorp; these tests are typically covered at the standard rate for PPO insurance plans.
In addition, the provider often uses tests from specialized labs to obtain more complete and sensitive measures of metabolic issues. These tests vary in cost, and fees are paid directly to the labs. the provider does her best to minimize costs and clearly discuss payment options with patients.
Integrative medicine is the practice of combining conventional medical treatments with non-conventional ("alternative" or "complementary") ones. Such as natural supplements and dietary changes.
The fundamental goal of an integrative approach to mental health is to find the most appropriate treatments (conventional and complementary) that safely and effectively address the symptoms of the individual, while taking into account personal preferences, cultural beliefs and financial constraints, an approach endorsed by the board of trustees of the American Psychiatric Association.
General Psychiatry focuses on the diagnosis, treatment of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders with the use of medications such as traditional antidepressants and antianxiety medications.
A medical weight loss program is developed and supervised by medical professionals. A medical weight loss program is generally a multi-pronged approach to losing weight that may involve a combination of dieting, physical exercise, behavior therapy and medication.
Whenever appropriate, the provider does help patients who are interested in coming off or reducing their dose and/or number of psychiatric medications. However, this is generally only done after a patient is in a stable condition and some work has been done to address underlying metabolic issues. Therefore, the process of tapering does not usually begin at the first or second visit.
While the provider believes that psychotherapy can be an integral part of treatment for many psychological conditions, she generally refers to other therapists for regular weekly therapy. If therapy is indicated for you or your child’s condition, the Provider will do her best to provide a suitable referral and coordinate care with the therapist.
